First Tuesday Strategies won a 2021 Gold Pollie Award in the Get Out the Vote (GOTV) Federal category for its “Undeniable Results” mail piece to help the S.C. Republican Party slate and Senator Lindsey Graham’s re-election campaign.

2020 was an election year unlike any other. Former S.C. Democratic Party Chairman Jaime Harrison raised over $100 million to attempt to defeat Senator Lindsey Graham. In late September, the passing of Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg gave Republicans an opportunity to change the narrative surrounding the general election.

First Tuesday Strategies quickly moved into action to revise the S.C. Republican Party and Team Graham’s GOTV efforts to reflect this new strategy. Our “Undeniable Results” mail piece highlighted Senator Graham’s work as Senate Judiciary Chairman. The mail piece also encouraged voters to vote for other Republicans down the ballot, including U.S. House District 1 Republican nominee Nancy Mace, and other State House and Senate Republican nominees.

Ultimately, Senator Graham won the most votes of any statewide candidate in South Carolina history. In addition, Republican turnout everywhere was 20% higher than estimated, and a record 593,000 Republicans cast absentee ballots.
