Launching a Solar Farm

10 . 15 . 19

We take great pride in helping our clients and friends solve complex challenges. No project is too big or too small.

That’s why we said YES to producing the grand opening of the Palmetto Plains solar facility in Bowman, South Carolina. Palmetto Plains is the largest utility-scale solar farm in South Carolina, and generates enough clean energy to power 15,000 homes. The event successfully highlighted the new construction, jobs, community partnerships, and South Carolina’s priority of clean energy. See photos below.

First Tuesday took what the client envisioned and turned it into a reality. We applied our expertise in public relations to guide early discussions with the client so that this event would accomplish their goals. After crafting a grand opening strategy on paper, we set to work coordinating necessary logistics.

We toured the physical site several weeks prior to the event to determine a layout for managing traffic, parking, and where the actual event would take place. In order to produce a quality event, serious equipment was required, like stages for press and speakers, seating, microphones, audio equipment, as well as a tent and lighting. We were able to secure these at a rate that kept the client within their budget by turning to a trusted source we had previously worked with.

Additionally, our client turned to First Tuesday Strategies to leverage our strong relationships across the state and solar community. We created a list of attendees who should be invited and took responsibility to secure the attendance of these officials. Final attendees included Lt. Governor Pam Evette, representatives from both Sen. Lindsey Graham and Sen. Tim Scott’s offices, Orangeburg County Council Chairman Johnnie Wright Sr., State Senator John Matthews, State Rep. Gilda Cobb-Hunter, the president of South Carolina State University, and others.

First Tuesday Strategies also coordinated with local media relations and generated positive earned media for the client:

ABC Columbia

The Times and Democrat

PV Magazine

NBC Charleston
