FTS goes undefeated in 2018 SC Congressional and State House races

06 . 30 . 18

First Tuesday Strategies helped to deliver wins for clients across South Carolina this month. Take a look:

TIMMONS WINS CONGRESSIONAL NOMINATION

In South Carolina’s Upstate, FTS client and State Senator William Timmonswon the highly-contested nomination to replace Congressman Trey Gowdy in CD4. Despite over a million dollars spent against him by outside groups, Timmons continually highlighted his experience a former prosecutor, small business owner, and conservative state senator. FTS served as the general consultant and direct mail vendor.

COX DEFEATS FOUR TERM INCUMBENT

In South Carolina’s Upstate, FTS client Bobby Cox decisively defeated a four term incumbent by a 25-point margin. Cox is a businessman, former Army Ranger, and Citadel graduate who focused on representing his district’s values in Columbia. FTS handled Cox’s strategy, digital, direct mail, and grassroots efforts.

ELLIOTT HOLDS BACK CHALLENGER

FTS client and State House incumbent Jason Elliott fought back another challenge from his 2016 opponent. Elliott, a pioneering Republican who represents one of the most conservative districts in America, leaned into his community relationships and outstanding conservative record. FTS handled Elliott’s strategy, digital, and direct mail.

BALLENTINE FACES DOWN DARK MONEY

FTS client and State House incumbent Nathan Ballentine won almost 70% of the vote against two challengers. A still-unknown, dark money donor spent tens of thousands on false attack mailers against Ballentine, to little effect. Ballentine stuck to the facts and his proven conservative record against some of the most outrageous political attacks in recent memory.

LIGON, HYDE WIN OPEN HOUSE SEATS

Auctioneer, small business owner, real estate professional, and FTS client Randy Ligon won an open State House seat in rural South Carolina. Ligon stressed his experience and vowed to protect the district’s agricultural heritage while also promoting economic development. FTS handled Ligon’s strategy, digital, and direct mail.

Spartanburg City Councilman, attorney, and FTS client Max Hyde won almost 69% of the vote in an open State House seat. Hyde ran a highly efficient campaign against a popular, long-serving Republican official with high name ID.

COGSWELL, COLLINS WIN TOUGH RUNOFFS

Incumbent House members Neal Collins and William Cogswell both won runoff elections against tough opponents. FTS was the mail vendor for Collins and provided grassroots consulting to Cogswell in the runoff.
