Mary Austin Sturkie was born and raised in Columbia, South Carolina. She graduated from Clemson University in 2025 with a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and a minor in Communications.
Mary Austin brings a strong passion for public service and leadership, supported by hands-on experience across multiple political and nonprofit organizations. She began her political career as an intern in Senator Tim Scott’s congressional office in 2023, continued with the South Carolina Republican Party during the 2024 election cycle, and most recently worked on Senator Lindsey Graham’s campaign in 2025.
In addition to her political experience, Mary Austin interned with Student Leadership University, where she traveled to cities across the country supporting leadership development programs for high school students.
While at Clemson, she was actively involved in Greek Life and served on multiple committees with the Fellowship of Christian Athletes, further demonstrating her commitment to leadership, service, and faith-based engagement.
